The Shirley Cox School of Dancing has been in existence for more than 50 years, and is based in its own purpose built dance studio in Biggin Hill, which is considered to be one of the finest Dance studios in the South East. It is very modern with warm air central heating and fully air-conditioned.
Over the years the school has built up a reputation for training high class dancers in Ballroom, Latin, Ballet, Contemporary, Stage and Tap. A great number of pupils go on to be very good competitors and others take up dancing as a profession either as teachers or performers on stage.
The other side of the school deals with social dancing for which thousands of pupils have learnt the basic movements of Ballroom & Latin American dancing, including Rock ‘N’ Roll, and have been given the confidence to take to the floor with a partner and enjoy dancing together. All the teachers at the school are very friendly and will put you at your ease which makes the learning so much more enjoyable.
The children start at 3 years of age with first steps ballet, then at 4/5 years they can go on to other forms of dancing that we teach. They can of course start at any age after the age of 3. Dancing is so important for their development in posture and it also gives them a confidence which serves them well as they grow into adults.
For everyone who dances it is a very good exercise; husband & wife, boy & girlfriend can do it together and it is a great way of meeting new friends.
